Press on the first letter and drag to the last. On a keyboard, tab to the first letter and press enter, then tab to the last and press enter again — the whole grid is reachable without a mouse.

Words Run in Eight Directions
Across, down, both diagonals, and all four of those backwards. The easy grids run forwards only, which is why they suit a younger player; the hard ones use every direction.

It does not matter which end you start from
A word reads the same to you whichever way you drag it. Refusing a selection because the generator happened to place the word the other way round would be the game being pedantic about its own workings.

Every puzzle has a number and never regenerates, so you can leave one half-finished, share it with somebody, or set the same one for a whole class.

Word search questions, answered
How many puzzles are there?
Hundreds, at three grid sizes, and each one is a fixed puzzle rather than a fresh shuffle. Puzzle 40 is the same puzzle tomorrow as it is today.
What is the difference between the sizes?
Easy is a ten-by-ten grid with eight words running forwards only. Medium adds the two diagonals and more words. Hard is sixteen by sixteen with every direction including backwards.
Can I print these instead?
Yes. The printable sheets come from the same generator, so a printed puzzle behaves exactly like a played one, and the sheets are grouped by age band for classroom use.
Where do the words come from?
The same curated word pool the rest of the site uses — everyday words rather than everything that is technically a word, with proper nouns and anything unsuitable already removed.
Is there a timer, and does it matter?
There is one, and it starts when you make your first selection rather than when the page loads. Nothing is lost by taking your time — it is there because people like knowing.
